Dufu, in collaboration with the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Malaysia Penang, donated RM100,000 to the Penang Governor’s Charity Foundation (Yayasan Amal Tuan Yang Terutama Yang-di Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang) as part of their initiatives to plant over 1 million trees across the state on Earth Day.
On the bright Monday morning of 22 April 2024, Dufu employees mostly made up of Department Heads and Managers gathered at Sungai Rambai, Bukit Mertajam to join the “Million Trees Planting Program” for Earth Day. The Penang branch of the Malaysian-Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce planted 20,000 calamansi trees, with Dufu contributing 5,000 of those trees along the banks of Sungai Rambai. The anticipated harvest from these trees will contribute to the emergency relief fund of the Bukit Mertajam Emergency Response Team. These calamansi trees are expected to yield fruit within 6 months to 1 year, and the proceeds will support the team’s operations, including acquiring ambulances for community emergency assistance.
We were lucky enough to be graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Hsu Shang Chih, the President of the Penang branch of the Malaysian-Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, Phoebe Yeh, the representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and Daniel Gooi, member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly for Padang Lalang. Dufu representatives includes its Executive Chairman, Dato’ Lee, Hui-Ta and the Group Chief Executive Officer, Teoh Chiew Hong.
This program allowed Dufu to contribute 5,000 trees at Sungai Rambai and an additional 15,000 trees within the Balik Pulau vicinity. Dufu acknowledges the significance of environmental sustainability and is dedicated to supporting initiatives that pave the way for a greener future for all. We firmly believe that collective action is crucial for achieving a positive environmental impact, and we commend the Penang Governor’s Charity Foundation for spearheading this remarkable program.
